Abolition Bill Filed in Colorado

According to the Foundation to Abolish Abortion, State Representative Scott Bottoms filed House Bill 24-1224, also titled, “Personhood of Living Unborn Human Child”. It was assigned to the State, Civic, Military, & Veterans Affairs committee and was given a hearing on March 4th where the committee voted to postpone the bill indefinitely.

Iowa Abolition Bill Filed, Pastors Meeting Announced

It is a very exciting time in Iowa! Iowa Pastors hosted A Call for Equal Protection at the state capitol on January 31st. The next day, State Representative and Abolitionist Legislator Zach Dieken introduced HF2256 to abolish abortion in the Hawkeye State. According to Abolitionists Rising, “The bill has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee chaired by Rep. Steven Holt, who has full authority over the bill’s fate. In Iowa, committee chairs create subcommittees to consider each bill assigned to the committee who then recommend bills for passage to the whole committee. If a committee chair does not want a bill to pass, he can simply deny it a subcommittee hearing.” Iowa Abolitionists are asking everyone to email Rep. Steve Holt at steven.holt@legis.iowa.gov and let him know HF2256 needs a subcommittee hearing. There will also be an Iowa’s Pastor and Church Leadership Meeting at Calvary Chapel in Des Moines on February 9th from 6:00-8:00pm local time.

Foundation to Abolish Abortion Publishes New Report

The Foundation to Abolish Abortion published a new report titled, “Babies Unprotected:
An Analysis of Self-Managed Abortion Numbers in States with ‘Bans‘”. According to their website, the report “offers analysis of the available data on the numbers of self-managed abortions occurring in states with “bans”, and the data is clear. Because no states’ laws are considered to prohibit self-managed abortion, babies in all 50 states remain essentially unprotected from abortion.” The Sentential also covered the report’s release here.

This report was providentially released the same week that the Charlotte Lozier Institute (the research arm of the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America) released a new study titled, “Pro-Life Laws Exempt Women from Prosecution: An Analysis of Abortion Statutes in 27 States“, in case you need a quick reference for how all pro-life laws keep abortion legal for pregnant women.

AIMKS Announces Capitol Rally

AIMKS has been busy lately! On January 27th they hosted a booth at the Kansas State GOP Convention and were able to have good conversations about their upcoming abolition bill. The bill will be introduced by Representative Samantha Poetter Parshall in the coming weeks and you can read the full bill here. They will be hosting an Abolish Abortion Rally at the capitol in Topeka on March 27th at 8:00am local time.

Abolition Bills Filed in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Indiana

The 2024 legislative session has kicked off in multiple states and so far three starts have abolition bills filed! In our last issue discussed Missouri’s abolition bill, which was prefiled in December and has now been assigned to the Health and Welfare Committee. Oklahoma Senator and Abolitionist Dusty Deevers filed SB1729 earlier this week which is also known as “The Abolition of Abortion in Oklahoma Act.” Oklahoma’s session begins on February 2nd.

Indiana House Representative Lorissa Sweet has filed HB1379 to abolish abortion in Indiana. The bill has been assigned to the Committee on Courts and Criminal Codes. According to the Indiana General Assembly’s website, their session begins on January 22nd.

Abolition Rallies Announced in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas

Oklahoma – This years Abolition Day will take place on February 6th at 10:00 am local time at the Capitol. Participants will meet at the South Plaza for a short rally and then head inside for organized lobbying and more.

Missouri – Abolish Abortion Missouri will be hosting their Rally at the Capitol on February 21st from 1:00-3:00 local time

Kansas – Had to reschedule their rally due to weather, but have not selected a make-up date yet.

Abolition Headlines

The film Abolitionist released on January 1st and is available to view for a $4 rental fee. Abolitionist Jon Speed reviewed the film on his website as well.

On an unrelated note, a Pro-Life PRC director also discussed her disagreements with points I made on Conversations With a Calvinist podcast on this podcast starting at the 38-39 minute mark.

Dusty Deevers Wins Oklahoma Senate Seat

Abolitionist Pastor Dusty Deevers won his Oklahoma Senate election by 10 points over his Democrat opponent in a special election held on December 12th despite an onslaught of slander from both Republicans and Democrats in the state. We praise God for this and ask you to keep Senator Deevers in your prayers.

AIMKS Announces Abolition Rally

Abortion is Murder Kansas (AIMKS) announced a rally to abolish abortion will be held on January 16th at 8:30 local time. According to the event description, “We are going to our Capitol to demand of our legislators that abortion be abolished, that child sacrifice end, that baby murder be criminalized for God’s sake and our neighbors’. We will hear from many pastors from around the state, we will set up meetings with our legislators, we will sing hymns, chant chants, and call the world to repent of their apathy for the genocide we all live in. And we will go every year, preach every month, demand justice every day until abortion is abolished.”

Pro-Life Leaders Brag About Killing Equal Protection Bills in MO/Looking to Expand Abortion Rights in Oklahoma

On December 1st, Missouri House Representative Bob Titus and Senator Mike Moon prefilled two bills of equal protection, HB1508 and SB775, respectively. By December 8th, Missouri Pro-Life leader Samuel Lee (who spoke against a bill of equal protection last year in the Senate hearing for SB356) vocalized his objections to the bills. Pro-life Missouri State Representative Tony Lovasco also spoke out against these bills stating that while equal protection may be an intellectually consistent position, it is an incredibly bad idea. Bob Titus then withdrew his bill in the House. Further information can be found here and here.

In Oklahoma, State Chair for Oklahomans for Life Tony Lauinger, is back for yet another year calling for the reintroduction of rape and incest laws concerning abortion, which would reopen kill mills in the state.

Bradley Pierce of AATX was featured on the Truth Over Tribe podcast for an episode titled, “Is Being Pro-Life Enough? with Abortion Abolitionist Bradley Pierce” where he did an excellent job handling the questions and objections of the pro-life podcast hosts.

End Abortion Ohio was featured in an article titled, “After Ohio Supreme Court dismisses anti-abortion arguments, advocates work to unveil total abortion ban.”

Laura Klassen, founder of Choice42.com, was featured on the Pro-Life Guys podcast to discuss IVF. She also wrote an article for The Art of Worship website titled, “Pastors, Love Your Preborn Neighbor“.

Issue One Passes in Ohio

Ohio became the latest state to enshrine child sacrifice rights into its state constitution on Tuesday night. The story was covered here. Abolitionist organization End Abortion Ohio released their statement following Tuesday night’s election results here, and in case anyone needed reminding of which psalms are imprecatory: 7, 35, 40, 55, 58-59, 69, 79, 109, 137, 139, and 144.

Abolition Resolution Passes at North Carolina Baptist Convention, Fails in Missouri

A group of nearly 30 abolitionists partnered with Abolish Abortion North Carolina this week at the North Carolina Baptist Convention. Their resolution on Equal Protection was passed unanimously by the messengers. Coverage on the resolution passing can be found here and here.

Abolish Abortion Missouri also put forth an Equal Protection Resolution that had to be voted out by the messengers after the resolutions committee chose not to bring it forward. This means the resolution was able to be discussed on the floor, but it ultimately failed to receive the 2/3rds vote needed to pass. Abolish Abortion TN Relaunches, Announces Mini-Conference

Abolish Abortion TN (AATN) officially relaunched this week after its previous leadership moved out of state in 2018. AATN is being lead by Abolitionist Pastor Scott Packett and is hosting their first event on February 3rd, 2024. The title of the mini conference is “Post Roe: Now What? The Christian’s responsibility to love their preborn neighbor” and will be held at North Athens Baptist Church in Athens, TN from 2:00-7:45pm EST with dinner provided. Abolitionist Pastors Wesley Russell and Clay Hall with Abolish Abortion Kentucky will also be speaking at the event. Hope you will join us there!

“Abortion Free” Docu-Series Premiers

Rescue Those and the Foundation to Abolish Abortion released the first episode of “Abortion Free” to subscribers on Friday, November 10th. A subscription costs $25 and provides early access to episodes as they premier. I just finished the first episode and it is very well done–excited for this series!

Dobbs Anniversary Recap

June 24, 2023, marked the one year anniversary of the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade. Ben Zeisloft wrote an excellent article concerning the current reality of abortion in our country.

Apologia Studios released a video also concerning this anniversary titled, “Anniversary of Tyranny: Roe & Dobbs“.

God has answered a specific prayer recently concerning the kill mill in Bristol, VA. Those who minister outside of this mill (The Imago Dei and Life Bristol) have been praying for the Lord to soften the hearts of the owners of the house that is adjacent to the mill and allow them to use part of their yard to be able to speak to the women in the parking lot of the clinic. Two weeks ago, they were granted access and we praise the Lord of that!

Live Action held a “Rally Against the Abortion Pill” on June 23rd at the US Department of Health and Human Services. Thankfully, there was an abolitionist named Philip Miedzinski on site in DC to remind attendees that abortion pills do not kill any child, the mothers who take them do.

Lila Rose, President of Live Action, and Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life, were guests on the Whatever Podcast to debate the issue of abortion. The host stated that Kristan’s argument against penalizing pregnant women who willfully kill their children in the womb because they are also victims of abortion was “the worst answer ever”. JAMA released a report about live birth rates in Texas since the Heartbeat Act was passed. As usual, the Pro-Life establishment interpreted this report to mean something it does not, and, as usual with Texas news concerning abortion, Abolitionist Paul Brown was there to set the record straight.

Alabama Equal Protection Rally Recap

A rally to support HB484 in Alabama was held on May 30th at the State Capitol in Montgomery. Speakers included Jeff Durbin, Derin Stidd, Jason Storms, Paul Abbott, II, and Representative Earnie Yarbrough. An informational meeting was also held that evening at Reformation Baptist Church in Wetumpka.

Roe 2.0 House Resolution Introduced by Pro-Life Congressman

U.S Congressman Doug Lamborn introduced U.S. HR464, the “Recognize Life Resolution” on June 6th. According to Constitutional Attorney Bradley Pierce, this resolution is “Roe 2.0” as it specifically states abortion must remain uncriminalized for pregnant women. According to Representative Doug Lamborn, who introduced the bill, and Live Action/Lila Rose’s social media accounts, Live Action is in full support of Roe 2.0 claiming this is the “New North Star” for the Pro-Life movement. Pro-Life site LifeNews.com, when reporting on the HR464, stated “Additionally, it acknowledges that mothers often are second victims of the profit-driven abortion industry and abortionists alone should be punished for killing unborn babies. Protections for unborn babies “shall not be construed to permit the prosecution of any woman for the death of her unborn child,” the bill states.””

That is not equal protection, folks. Kansas abolitionist Stu McArthur stated in a tweet, “@LiveAction This Resolution is incoherent and wicked. It lays out an excellent argument for the pre-born child as a human person worthy of equal protection of the law – and then Resolves to deny that person protection from being murdered by their own mother. Every supporter of this resolution needs to repent. Deuteronomy 1:17″ and I could not agree more.

South Carolina Equal Protection Amendment Fails

In a special called session of the South Carolina legislature, S.474 (Heartbeat Bill) was passed. Before its passing, Representative Rob Harris submitted Amendment 7 “to both protect the unborn and obey the SC and US constitutions” by giving equal protection to our neighbors in the womb. Pro-life politician John McCravy spoke against the amendment and the amendment failed 32-66. A video of Harris speaking for and McCravy speaking against the amendment can be found here.

Alabama Equal Protection Bill Filed

State Representative Ernie Yarbrough filed HB454, the Equal Protection Act, on May 11, 2023 in Alabama. The bill has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee where is must pass before it can move to a floor vote. As of publication, no hearing date has been set. 1819 News reported on the filing here and included an interview with End Abortion Alabama.

South Carolina – The newly passed South Carolina Heartbeat Act (S.474):

• Legalizes the use of chemical abortion pills through all nine months of pregnancy.
• Codifies the murder of children by an abortion doctor (hitman):
  • up until the hitman or nurse decides to find a heartbeat
  • through 12 weeks if the mother claims she was sexually assaulted
  • through the entire pregnancy in the case of a “fatal fetal anomaly”

North Carolina – The North Carolina legislature overrode the Governor’s veto to pass SB20. This bill:

• codifies the legal murder of children in the womb through 12 weeks if the mother decides to hire a hitman.
• codifies the legal murder of children in the womb through all nine months if done by the mother.

Nebraska – After LB626 (12-week abortion “ban”) failed in April, Nebraska Republicans added the legislation into LB574. This Act passed this week and codifies the legal murder of our neighbors in the womb:

• by a hitman through “the probable gestational age” of 12 weeks (longer if conceived in rape/incest).
• through all nine months if done by the mother.

Kristian Hawkins, President of Students for Life, tweeted a congratulatory tweet to Daniel Cameron, current Attorney General of Kentucky, for securing the republican nomination for KY’s Governor this week. Hawkins stated, “As Attorney General, Cameron defended preborn lives & protected pro-life laws against the radical abortion lobby’s assault. He will be a great pro-life Governor for Kentucky!” As a reminder, Cameron openly opposed HB300 which would have granted our KY neighbors in the womb equal protection. This and what Representative John McCravy did in South Carolina this week simply show yet again that the pro-life establishment has no interest in abolishing abortion.
